BBH Mission

copley square

Victorian Copley Square, the New World"s greatest agora of Faith and Learning, Arts and Sciences: Trinity Church  and the Public Library to either side of the first building of  Boston's Museum of Fine Arts.

An educational venture at once elitist in its standards and populist in its outreach, Back Bay Historical/The Global Boston Perspective, is a private, non-profit 501(c)3 Massachusetts corporation. It was founded in 2008 by historian Douglass Shand-Tucci along with H.A.Crosby Forbes and Mary Kay Holder, prominent Bostonians concerned with advancing the study of Boston’s history along the lines characteristic of Shand-Tucci’s critically well-received and award-winning scholarship. BBHs mission is grounded in 1) a focus on what has been called "the real Boston"; and 2) a vigorously "global perspective" on same; and on two aspects of the Back Bay experience, historically: 3) what Shand-Tucci calls "aristocratic visions" and, 4)"immigrant horizons".
